Fishing Report- March 3, 2008

Mango Creek Lodge

Well what can we say...... the fishing has been great and our season is proving to be as good as last year with a number of guests returning to the challenge of our flats.

Perry with bonefishIt may be an anomaly but it appears that our bone fish are slightly bigger than last year. Below Perry shows a nice bonefish caught by Chuck Hornor.

At the same time as Chuck was visiting Joe Pozzi and Wally Filkins from Chicago joined us for some spin fishing. Tit Tie their enthusiastic guide put them on to number of different species.

These included 2 Permit, 1 grouper (30 lb), snook, snapper, bonefish, small sharks, etc.

Their stay also included a trip to Guanaja where they managed to land between 12 to 15 bonefish.

Also available spin fishing in deeper water are Tuna, Wahoo, and Barracuda.

Weather at this time of year includes trade winds that at times makes for more difficult for the fly fisherman. However it is unusual for the wind to persist for more than a few days. For the experienced fisherman this is not an issue.

This is a picture of Chuck and not some alien..... he doesn't really like getting sun burned. Bonefish were present in great numbers. He reported they were not "Spooky" and he caught over 30 during his stay.

He's coming back ....

All the pictures on this report were submitted by Chuck. Check out the rest on the end of the page....
