Perry Cooper |
 |
|
|
With more than 10 years of
experience, Perry is the
most senior and experienced
fishing guide at Mango Creek
Lodge. Born and raised in
Calabash Bight, Perry has a
lifetime of knowledge about
its local areas and fish.
And his love of fishing
shows—even during his time
off, he goes fishing! Perry
has been a commercial
lobster diver and fisher and
is very comfortable in and
on the water. Perry is
married and has two
children.

Terry Matute |
 |
|
|
Terry—or Tie-Tie, as he is
called at Mango Creek
Lodge—is a wonderful
fishing, hiking, and
snorkeling guide with a good
humor and excellent
knowledge. When he is not
helping guests have fun,
Tie-Tie is in charge of our
mechanical and electrical
maintenance. He hikes to
Mango Creek from the
community of Diamond Rock,
where he recently completed
the construction of his own
house.

|
Randy Matute |
 |
|
|
With his warm smile and
wonderful personality, Randy
is a favorite among Mango
Creek Lodge’s guests. He is
an excellent fishing,
snorkeling, and hiking guide
who can identify indigenous
plants and numerous
underwater creatures. When
he is not guiding, Randy can
be seen all over the Mango
Creek property working on
the grounds and construction
projects. Randy is from the
village
of
Helene,
where nearly everyone is a
relative.

| Leif Shaver, PADI Instructor |
|
 |
|
I did my first dive in 2000 off a live-aboard sailboat on the Great Barrier
Reef. That changed everything! Now that I'm an instructor, I get to help
others have that same moment of absolute wonder when they see the undersea
world for the first time. As an ex-engineer I love the more technical
aspects of diving but it's the wildlife that makes it beautiful and the
people who make it fun. |
|
| Kathy Shupe, PADI Divemaster |
|
 |
|
My first diving was back in the days before the invention of the BCD!
After many years away from it, I got certified in 2001 and never looked
back. As an animal lover, I'm always happy to see all my fishy friends. And
having a great dive destination like Port Royal right out the front door is
fantastic.

make you forget your diet!
She works hard in the
kitchen to make our meals
memorable and specializes in
seafood and desserts. Joy

and Hillary, and lives in

Dalia Bodden |
 |
|
The youngest member of
the Mango Creek Lodge staff,
Dalia cooks for our guests
on weekends. Don’t miss her
heavenly “fish tea” when you
visit. Dalia also is trained
in massage and helps our
guests relax after a long
day on the water.

|
Manuel Romero |
 |
|
Manuel is a concrete and
painting expert. He is
responsible for the
beautiful pathways and much
of the construction around
Mango Creek Lodge. He has
also recently taken over
responsibility for the
lodge’s plentiful
landscaping. Manuel is a
devoted family man and
wonderful singer who makes
his home in Diamond Rock.
|
|
Rigoberto Sanchez |
 |
|
Rigo has been a loyal and
reliable Mango Creek Lodge
employee for more than 5
years. He is often seen
around the property working
on the grounds, helping on
construction projects, and
handling bags for guests. He
is also a favorite of our
parrots because he chats and
plays with them while taking
care of their cages and
food. Rigo makes his home in
Oakridge and has three
daughters.
|
|
Carlos Molina |
 |
|
The
grandson of Don Manuel,
Carlos has continued a
tradition of fine
woodworking at Mango Creek
Lodge. Carlos is in charge
of our woodworking shop and
creating and maintaining the
beautiful wood doors,
windows, furniture, and
details throughout the
grounds. Carlos lives in the
nearby town of Oak Ridge.
|
|
Manuel Molina |
 |
|
Although retired now, Don
Manuel is still active in
the goings-on at Mango Creek
Lodge. He was responsible
for the design and
construction of our
over-the-water cabanas,
which he created from only a
photograph of similar
cabanas in Bora Bora. He is a legend around Port
Royal, where he
built many houses. He is
also a master carver and
created many of the
furnishings around Mango
Creek Lodge.
